MMTC to buy 15% stake in 4th currency futures exchange

Country`s largest public sector trading agency MMTC is entering to partnership with 4th currency futures exchange and it will invest Rs 225 million to pick up to 15% equity in that exchange, reports Business Standard. The exchange will be known as United Stock Exchange of India (STOX) and it is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) created by Jaypee Capital Services. Jaypee Capital, formed by Jaypee Commodities, will be the single-largest shareholder in the proposed exchange.

Bank of England says economic crisis was underestimated

Tue, Dec 23 05:47 PM London, Dec 23 (DPA) The Bank of England (BoE) failed to understand the seriousness of the looming economic crisis despite rocketing house prices and credit levels, its deputy chief has said. John Gieve said Monday that the bank had spotted 'some crazy borrowing' and unsustainable asset prices but 'didn't think it was going to be anything like as severe as it turned out to be'. He believed the bank, like other institutions, had failed to keep pace 'with the extent of globalization', Gieve said in an interview with the BBC's Panorama programme. Gieve said the period of growth before the 2008 crash did not resemble previous boom and bust cycles because it lacked the 'typical big increases in earnings, consumption and activity'. 'We saw the credit, we saw the house prices, but we did see a fairly stable pattern of earnings, prices and output,' he said. Gieve, a member of the bank's rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), also said that interest rates were a 'blunt instrument' that would not have stopped the relentless rise in property prices at the height of the surge. अमेरिका: हर माह बंद हो रहे दो बैंक

Dec 07, 04:58 pm न्यूयार्क। मौजूदा वित्तीय संकट के कारण अमेरिका में हर माह औसतन दो बैंक ध्वस्त हो रहे हैं। इस साल अब तक 23 बैंक पहले ही कारोबार समेट चुके हैं। इस सूची में नया नाम फ‌र्स्ट जार्जिया कम्युनिटी बैंक का है। इस बैंक को अधिकारियों ने शुक्रवार को बंद कर दिया। विफल बैंकों के लिए रिसीवर नियुक्त करने वाली स्वतंत्र एजेंसी फेडरल डिपाजिट इंश्योरेंस कारपोरेशन के आंकड़े बताते हैं कि 2008 के हर महीने में औसतन दो बैंक बंद हो रहे हैं। पिछले 18 साल में अमेरिका में बैंकों की संख्या में 5000 से अधिक की कमी आई है।

मंदी से निपटने की कड़ी है राहत पैकेज

Dec 05, 02:16 pm नई दिल्ली। सरकार और रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा अर्थव्यवस्था के लिए कल घोषित होने वाला राहत पैकेज एक पहल मात्र नहीं है, बल्कि वैश्विक मंदी से प्रभावित क्षेत्रों की मदद के लिए किए गए उपायों की यह एक कड़ी है। यहां भारत-रूस सीईओ काउंसिल की एक बैठक के दौरान वाणिज्य मंत्री कमलनाथ ने संवाददाताओं को बताया कि यह एकल पैकेज नहीं होगा, बल्कि पैकेज का दूसरा और तीसरा हिस्सा भी होगा। कल ही रिजर्व बैंक द्वारा भी अल्पावधि की ब्याज दरों में कटौती किए जाने की संभावना है जिससे आटोमोबाइल, रीयल एस्टेट और ढांचागत जैसे प्रमुख क्षेत्रों के लिए सस्ती दरों पर कर्ज उपलब्ध हो सकेगा। रिजर्व बैंक की सलाह से सचिवों की समिति द्वारा तैयार राहत पैकेज के ब्यौरे के बारे में पूछे जाने पर वाणिज्य सचिव जीके पिल्लै ने कहा कि इसे कल प्रधानमंत्री को घोषित करने दें। पिल्लै ने बुधवार को कहा था कि ढांचागत परियोजनाओं को 15,000 करोड़ रुपये की बजटीय सहायता दी जाएगी, जबकि मंदी से प्रभावित निर्यातकों के लिए 2,000 करोड़ रुपये का पैकेज दिया जाएगा।

राजस्थान में 65 फीसदी मतदान

Dec 04, 05:46 pm जयपुर। राजस्थान विधानसभा की दो सौ सीटों पर बृहस्पतिवार को लगभग 65 प्रतिशत मतदान होने की सूचना है। छिटपुट घटनाओं को छोड़कर मतदान शांतिपूर्ण रहा। आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने शुरुआती रिपोर्ट के हवाले से बताया कि प्रदेश में 65 प्रतिशत से अधिक मतदान होने की सूचना है। उन्होंने बताया कि आठ से दस मतदान केंद्रों पर छिटपुट गड़बड़ी की सूचना भी है। राजस्थान के तीन करोड़ बासठ लाख 67 हजार नौ सौ उन्नीस मतदाताओं में से पैसठ प्रतिशत से अधिक मतदाताओं ने राजस्थान की मुख्यमंत्री वसुंधरा राजे [झालरापाटन] राजस्थान के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और कांग्रेस के राष्ट्रीय महासचिव अशोक गहलोत, राजस्थान विधानसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा सिंह समेत 2193 उम्मीदवारों के भाग्य का फैसला ईवीएम मशीन में बंद कर दिया। सूत्रों के अनुसार करौली जिले के टोडा भीम थाना क्षेत्र में एक मतदान केंद्र के निकट अज्ञात व्यक्ति द्वारा हवा में फायरिंग कुछ स्थानों पर राजनीतिक दलों के बीच पथराव होने की घटनाओं को छोड़कर मतदान शांतिपूर्ण रहा। सूत्रों के अनुसार भरतपुर, करौली, अलवर, दौसा, बीकानेर, झुंझुनूं, सवाई माधोपुर, कोटा जिले में कुछ मतदान केंद्रों पर राजनीतिक दलों के समर्थकों के बीच हुए पथराव से करीब अठारह लोग घायल हो गए। सुरक्षाकर्मियों ने समय रहते स्थिति पर काबू पा लिया। राज्य पुलिस नियंत्रण सूत्रों के अनुसार कोटा के लाडपुरा थाना क्षेत्र में मतदान के दौरान एक मतदान केंद्र पर राजनीतिक दलों के समर्थकों की भारी भीड़ जमा हो जाने पर मतदान केंद्र की सुरक्षा के लिए तैनात सुरक्षाकर्मी को हवा में गोली चलानी पड़ी। गोली से किसी के घायल होने की सूचना नहीं है। राजस्थान के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी सूत्रों के अनुसार प्रदेश में करीब सत्ताइस मतदान केंद्रों से ईवीएम मशीन में तकनीकी खराबी के कारण मतदान कुछ समय रुकने के बाद फिर शुरू हुआ। उन्होंने कहा कि आठ से दो मतदान केंद्रों पर गड़बड़ी की सूचना मिली है। पर्यवेक्षक एवं जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी की इस संबंध में रिपोर्ट मिलने के बाद पुनर्मतदान का फैसला किया जाएगा। जरूरत हुई तो 6 दिसंबर को सुबह आठ बजे से शाम पांच तक पुनर्मतदान होगा। चुनाव आयोग ने प्रदेश में निष्पक्ष एवं शांतिपूर्ण ढंग से मतदान करवाने के लिए नब्बे हजार से अधिक सुरक्षाकर्मी तैनात किए थे। मतदान के लिए बयालीस हजार दो सौ बारह मतदान केंद्र बनाए गए थे। राजस्थान के राज्यपाल एसके सिंह ने जयपुर के सिविल लाइंस इलाके में मुख्यमंत्री वसुंधरा राजे ने झालरापाटन, पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने सरदारपुरा में मतदान किया। मतदान सुबह धीमी गति से शुरू हुआ लेकिन दिन चढने के साथ इसमें तेजी आ गई। जयपुर के कई मतदान केंद्रों पर सत्तर प्रतिशत से भी अधिक मतदान होने की सूचना है। ग्रामीण इलाकों में मतदाता पारंपरिक वेशभूषा में मतदान करने पहुंचे। तेरहवीं राजस्थान विधानसभा की दो सौ सीटों के लिए भाजपा 193, भाजपा के सहयोगी दल इंडियन नेशनल लोकदल पांच, जनता दल यू चार, कांग्रेस 200, सीपीआईएम 34 सीपीआई 31 और एक हजार बीस निर्दलीय व अन्य राजनीतिक दलों के प्रत्याशी चुनाव मैदान में थे। मतगणना आठ दिसंबर को जिला मुख्यालयों पर होगी।

Religare Enterprises gets SEBI nod for LOTUS acquisition

Religare Enterprises Ltd (REL) one of the leading integrated financial services groups of India, confirmed that Religare Securities Ltd (RSL), its wholly owned subsidiary has received clearance from SEBI to acquire the entire shareholding of Lotus India Asset Management Company (Lotus India AMC) from its shareholders. Earlier this month, Religare had announced its decision to acquire Lotus AMC and subsequently announced its restructuring plans relating to Religare's partnership with Aegon in the asset management business in India. Religare had a 50-50 JV with Aegon in 'Religare Aegon AMC'. Religare has also received regulatory approval for divesting its stake in this AMC partnership.
